Bambu Lab AMS lite is an intelligent system that requires maintenance to ensure stable feeding and automatic filament switching during printing. Here are some suggestions for regular inspection and maintenance.
¶ Filament Tangle Detection Module
The tangle detection module above the toolhead consists of a filament hub and a feed bracket. The AMS lite filament hub unit assembly is installed above the extruder of the A1 series printer to help achieve multi-filament printing.
Maintenance suggestions for the filament tangle detection module:
- Regularly check the connection status of the filament hub unit assembly and the feed bracket to ensure that it is stable and not loose.
- Regularly clean the filament hub unit assembly to prevent the accumulation of debris, thereby ensuring smooth multi-filament printing. Please refer to Disassembly and cleaning the AMS lite Filament Hub.
¶ PTFE Tubes
PTFE tubes are consumables at risk of wear, as they may wear down over time due to friction with the filament. We recommend checking the PTFE tubes for wear during machine maintenance. If the tubes are worn and not replaced in time, this may lead to feeding failures and filament jams within the AMS lite.
Maintenance and Replacement Cycle for PTFE Tubes:
- Under normal usage conditions, the PTFE tubes should be replaced every two months to ensure unobstructed filament movement in any usage scenario.
- If the tubes show noticeable wear, they should be replaced promptly.
- If the printer is used for 24/7 printing, the tubes should be replaced monthly. Regular maintenance ensures smooth operation of the printer and extends the life of the AMS lite.
¶ AMS lite Rotary Spool Holder
AMS lite Rotary Spool Holder is designed to support and hold the spool. Each rotary spool holder has 3 spool claws to secure the spool in place. While the feeder unit pulls the filament, the rotary spool holder works in coordination to enable the spool to rotate during the printing process. This ensures continuous filament feeding and smooth operation.
Maintenance suggestions for the rotary spool holder:
- Regularly clean the rotary spool holder to avoid dust and dirt accumulation and ensure its normal operation.
- Regularly check whether the spool claws are loose and reinstall and tighten them if necessary. Please refer to AMS lite Spool Claw Installation Tutorial.
¶ AMS lite Feeder Unit
It is recommended to replace the feeder unit in the following situations:
- The funnel is severely worn, affecting the loading and unloading process, causing the assist motor to overload or triggering other HMS error messages related to loading and unloading.
- After-sales personnel confirm a failure in the feeder motor.
